We Have Agency

Metabolism

The body’s inter-connected housekeeping system is called metabolism. Instead of just the heart or the brain, we pay attention to metabolism, which in turn protects all the critical organs.

Musculoskeletal Power

A healthy musculoskeletal system prevents disease, injury and aging. Protecting and strengthening it is a core part of our program.

Strategy

We have agency in how we age and whether we develop ill health. Instead of just zeroing in on disease, we develop an individualized strategy to help each person thrive by anticipating and preventing problems.

Benefits

    • For people who take ownership of their health

    • Are willing to engage with nutrition, strengthening the musculoskeletal system, sleep and recovery.

    • Want chronic disease managed such that it has minimal impact on daily life

    • Prefer depth, continuity, and attention to detail

It’s not a fit for quick visits or passive care.

    • We use modern tools and thoughtful medicine with clear health targets

    • Leverage the latest science in nutrition, exercise and sleep

    • When appropriate, we also integrate multi-cancer blood testing, genetics and imaging

  • What is metabolic disease?

    • Metabolism includes all processes that extract nutrients, build and repair cells, store and release energy, power and regulate essential bodily functions

    • When our metabolism is not working well, we start seeing a decline in our organs and our functioning

    • All organ systems are connected, so problems with one system impact all the others including the heart

    • Cardiometabolic disease prevention is early course-correction using data, instead of late stage treatment of heart problems secondary to metabolic dysfunction

    • This applies to other critical systems like the brain, kidney, liver and gut as well

FAQs

Q: What is a visit to your office like?

My patients will attest that I’m all about going beyond the surface. No detail is pushed aside as all our body systems are connected. Through history-taking, examination, and an unwavering commitment to the latest science, I want to bring all my knowledge towards the benefit of my patients. I place great importance on staying educated in the latest advances in medicine.

Each appointment is unrushed, giving you the time you need to share your concerns. It's in these moments of unhurried care that the real breakthroughs happen—accurate diagnoses and the magic of true healing.

Since I am limiting my practice to a small group of patients, patients can expect a deep knowledge of and familiarity with their needs and lifestyles, prompt solutions to their health care needs, obviating delays in treatment, and unnecessary trips to urgent care or ER.

Q: What is unique to this practice?

Our practice is based strongly on cardiovascular prevention, an over 100-year old care model pre-dating US for-profit healthcare insurance that was designed to keep important people alive and thriving for as long as possible. You deserve that style of care too, enhanced by this practice’s unique care approaches.

We have taken this many steps further by focusing on cardio-brain-metabolism axis which forecasts problems before they manifest and hones in on preventative measures. With a membership based wellness program, we work on prevention throughout the year and you enjoy robust communication with your physician to allow this.

Q: What are the benefits of this practice?

  • Evidence-based preventative care to help achieve longevity and thrive

  • Personalized medicine for your specific needs and goals.

  • Travel medicine for your next adventure, available when you need it.

  • Robust communication with your own physician, not an answering service.

Q: Do we accept insurance for some services and what is included in the membership fee?

Yes, I am credentialed with major insurance plans except Pacific Source and Cigna. If you have a plan that we are not contracted with, you can join the practice but you may have a higher out-of pocket cost for visits. Your insurance plan is a private contract between you and your insurance company. Please verify if Dr.Richa Uppal is in your network directly with your plan.

The membership fee for the cardio-metabolic wellness program is separate from insurance and this covers yearlong preventative care, not just a 30 minute physical.

Membership fee does NOT cover acute care, labs, imaging studies, specialist care, ER and urgent care visits, hospital stays, surgeries and so on. These will be covered by your respective insurance plan. We are not an insurance plan. You need to maintain your insurance plan for non-covered services.
